Costs you are incurring now...
If you have an Accounting Programme and enter the details
yourself you will be paying the:-
- Cost of owning a computer (you may already use one for your
business so this might not be extra)...You can pay up to $ 2,000
or $100 per month for a system
- Cost of purchasing and upgrading Accounting Programme(s) ...
Most programmes are several hundred dollars originally and from $150
per year for upgrades
- Cost of training yourself or an employee to use programme
... There are many training courses available which cost
$ 200 to $ 500
in course fees and much more in wages or lost productivity
- Wages for someone else to enter details ... Probably $ 20 per hour for unskilled data entry to $50+ for skilled book keeper or accounts person
- Your lost time from work or leisure
... How much is your time worth if you are in a successful business and
do you really want to spend time out of your leisure or family time.
- Cost of delivering details to Accountant and maintaining records ... must be delivered as soon as finished because the ATO have penalties for late lodgement.
- Cost for Accountant to check your details ... you might be good at data entry but if you are not an Accountant yourself you might miss something that will save you money
- Cost for Accountant to prepare and lodge your BAS ... the Accountant still has to charge you a fee
